GENIUS & JOY

Our Genius & Joy grants offer funding for culturally responsive summer programming in North Minneapolis schools.

“Our youths are geniuses. They are not all those things that systemic oppression has created. And young people deserve to be taught by geniuses, those who seek knowledge and deeply love the students in their classes.”

Dr. Gholdy Muhammad

Genius & Joy is a chance for ALL educators (teachers, ESPs, administrators, and support staff) to create experiences that spark joy, build critical understanding of our world, and develop strong literacy skills.

Making the Case for Genius & Joy

Genius & Joy was conceived as an antidote to the joyless reality of distance learning, as well as a way to implement the ideas of an important new educational scholar, Dr. Gholdy Muhammad. Read this article from our partner Nafeesah Muhammad that digs into Genius & Joy and explores the importance of art and literacy in schools.
