Genius & Joy Grants

Calling all Northside MPS Educators! Your school has the opportunity to offer 1 or 2 weeks of culturally responsive summer programming to your students. This is a chance for ALL educators (teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and support staff) to create learning experiences that cultivate learners’ language and literacy development while keeping identity, joy, critical thinking, and cultural affirmation at the center.

These grants offer:

  • 1-2 week PAID opportunity in August
  • Build your skills and confidence as a culturally responsive educator
  • Team up with educators from your school to create joyful learning experiences for your students
  • Coaching and support provided to help you develop and implement your programs

Application Details

This grant opportunity opens on Friday, May 21. Applications must be submitted by 12 p.m. on Friday, June 11. This is a week extension of our original due date of June 4. Please read through our background document and application preview document before you apply.

Once applications are submitted, the Phillips North Minneapolis Education Advisory Committee will review them. This Committee is comprised of educators and parents with deep Northside connections. After decisions are finalized, the Phillips Foundation and Achieve Mpls, our implementing partner, will connect with participating educators to process stipend payments, develop supply budgets, and begin coaching on curriculum development.
