COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND ELIGIBILITY

We know AmeriCorps VISTA can be inaccessible due to the living allowance. That’s why we offer extra benefits to do our part in changing the face of AmeriCorps.

Transit Support
$50 fuel card or 31 day transit pass each month

Housing Support
$200 monthly housing stipend ($2,400 yearly)

Professional Development
We meet bi-weekly to prepare you for success during your year of service and beyond. All of our professional development opportunities will be anchored in a strong social justice and, particularly, a racial justice framework. Most trainings will touch on the following elements: Personal Development, Hard Skills, Content, Knowledge and Cohort Building.

Professional Development Budget
$400 Budget. Your site sets aside this fund for you to use to deepen knowledge and skills in a tailored way. Funds have been used to attend conferences, to take classes, to purchase computer programs, etc. Additionally, we provide a weekly professional development newsletter, connecting you to opportunities and events in the Twin Cities.

Cohort Experience
You will go through your term of service with 15 other people. Your cohort will serve as a social and professional network. We strive to provide a welcoming environment that cultivates relationship and team building within our VISTA cohort. Many of our VISTAs consider the cohort to be the most valuable aspect of their VISTA experience.
